Visual Computing Technologies was approached to develop a robust class attendance marking system that is time saving compared to traditional modalities and non-intrusive in the classroom. This multi-tier systems generates a periodic QR code that is unique to the time, classroom and the course being conducted on a screen in class. Registered students can then use a mobile phone app, also developed in-house, to mark their attendance after a facial recognition-based authentication process. The system further logs the device ID and geographical location for further authentication. This information is stored in the database to provide various short-term and long-term record of student classroom participation.
